She
is currently in private practice in Port Elizabeth where she's also
involved in a variety of different projects, including Teacher and
Learner Care (basic counselling skills for teachers) and the Peace
Promoting Schools Project with GMSA Foundation. For more information
about these projects you could go to GM
South Africa Foundation.
Dealing with diversity and related issues through talks and workshops
is one of Leanne's passions and she has delivered talks in various
contexts in this regard. One of these talks was presented at the
South African Girls' Schools Conference held in Grahamstown - read
more about this talk in an article by Le Femme "Teaching
how to overcome bigotry".
As
a result of many good years of teaching in high schools, Leanne
still enjoys working with adolescents and thoroughly enjoys working
with young people to help them to fulfill their potential through
motivating them, teaching life skills, etc. She was invited by Eastcape
Training Centre (ETC) to address the matrics of 2008 at their conference
venue. The aim was to motivate grade 12 learners and provide them
with some pointers as they prepared for their final exams. Read
more about this in an article that appeared in the Herald: "Perseverence
is the key".
